Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center
OLOL was established in 1923 and is the largest private medical center in Louisiana
with 763 licensed beds. In a given year, they treat approximately 25,000 patients
in the hospital, and serves about 350,000 persons through outpatient locations with
the assistance of almost 900 physicians and 3,000 staff members.
Overview
OLOL recently opened a 10-bed neurosurgical-trauma intensive care unit and has trauma
physician coverage 24/7. A Mobile Virtual ICU allows hospital intensivists to simultaneously
monitor critical patients throughout multiple ICUs from a centralized location. It
is the home of the LSU Baton Rouge-based residency programs which include Internal
Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Psychiatry as well as a community-based Pediatrics
residency program. LSU residents that rotate through OLOL from their LSUSOM-NO based
programs include ENT, Oral Surgery, Opthalmology, Dermatology, Orthopedics, and General
Surgery.
Ob/Gyn residents rotate with the Internal Medicine program and the Emergency Medicine
program during their first year of training.

“I have been lucky enough to find lifelong friendships in residency.
After residency, I would like to practice the full scope of general obstetrics and
gyn, and can’t wait to perform my own surgeries like robotic hysterectomies after
