OB/GYN Residency in Baton Rouge

Clerkship

All LSU medical students will complete a required rotation through Obstetrics & Gynecology. Students can opt to complete this rotation in Baton Rouge at Woman's Hospital with our residents and faculty.

4th Year Student Rotations

All medical students are encouraged to consider a rotation with our Ob/Gyn residents and faculty.  If you are interested in applying to our program, we urge you to apply for a four week rotation as an "acting intern."  Medical students must be currently enrolled in an AAMC accredited medical school and are required to apply through VSAS (Visiting Student Application Service).

LSU medical students can schedule 4th year electives and acting internships as they normally would through New Innovations, though Baton Rouge department approval is required.

For questions and information contact:

LSUHSC School of Medicine
Office of Student Affairs
Ms. Melanie Brown
Student Affairs Representative
E-mail:  mbro15@lsuhsc.edu
Telephone: (504) 568-4874

Specify course # OBGYN419 on all communications with this office.  This process ensures that you will have adequate malpractice coverage while rotating with our service.

A member of the Ob/Gyn faculty and/or a resident will always supervise medical students. Medical students will be evaluated using their own medical school criteria and evaluation form or our standard evaluation form if none is provided by their medical school.

Medical students are expected to attend all Ob/Gyn lectures and conferences during their rotation and actively participate in department activities and social events.  Housing, if needed, will be provided while the student is with our service.

Please register as soon as possible as availability for these positions is limited and competitive.
