"I aspire to continue to work towards a more equitable and inclusive future in women's healthcare in a city in that has played a major role in shaping the woman I am today."
Dr. Amber Crenshaw's interest in medicine started well before her years of advanced education. She obtained her license as a Certified Nursing Assistant in high school. In college, she also worked as Patient Transporter. As a member of the Southern University Gold and Bluez Basketball Dance Team, Amber learned the importance of dedication, hardwork, sisterhood and camaraderie. She carries this team player attitude with her everyday in residency.
Selected by her peers, Amber served as Vice President of the Mobile Chapter of Student National Medical Association in medical school. Leading within SNMA nurtured her passion for mentoring, advocacy, and community by providing a supportive space with like-minded peers, fostering a sense of belonging and motivating her to become a role model to others with limited exposure to professionals of color.
A proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, her teamwork and leadership passions were expanded through goal-driven community outreach and building lifelong connections with impactful community leaders. The principles on which this organization was founded inspire her daily throughout her journey of medicine and womanhood.
