Does the LSUHSC Interventional Radiology Residency Program participate in the Match?

Yes, applications should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Do candidates have to participate in the NRMP Match to enter this program?

Yes, the only way that one can enter the LSUHSC Radiology program is to apply through ERAS and participate in the Match.

How many positions does the LSUHSC Interventional Radiology program offer?

Two (2) positions per year.

What are the application requirements?
Do candidates need a Step 2 score to apply to the program?

We prefer to see Step 1 and Step 2 scores, but it is not mandatory to apply to the program.

What is your USMLE score cut-off?

Scores are a strong consideration, but we look at the candidate's entire application. We do not have a set score cut-off.

Do you have a medical school graduation cut-off?

No.

What is the deadline for sending applications?

We coincide with ERAS.

Do you require a clinical year?

Yes, this year must consist of training accredited by the ACGME, in internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery or surgical specialties, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, family medicine, emergency medicine, or any combination of these. The clinical year may also comprise a transitional year accredited by the ACGME.

Does LSUHSC arrange the clinical year?

The LSUHSC IR program is a categorical program, and those that Match with us will complete their clinical/internship year in the LSUHSC Surgery program. 

Does your program accept International Medical Graduates (IMGs) as residents?

Yes, positions can be offered to those IMGs who apply through the correct channels.

Is ECFMG certification required before applying? 

Yes, for IMG's all ECFMG requirements need to be fulfilled.

What type of visas does your program sponsor?

The program approves J1 visas sponsored by ECFMG. Our program does not sponsor H-1B visas.
