2021 - 2022 Conferences
Our Interventional Radiology Program participated in two conferences for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
This year the ARRS Conferece was held in New Orleans. Our current Chief Resident, Andrew Ea, DO, had a pster accepted.
"Treating Superficial Venous Insufficiency A Primer for Residents".
Our Program Director, Alexandra Fairchild, MD, was there in support of a former LSU Medical Student, Charles Mansour, MD, who presented on research that he had done with Dr. Fairchild.
"Efficacy of Percutaneous Drainage Following Ventral Hernia Repair with Synthetic Mesh vs. Cutis Allograft".

The second conference our program was in attendance at, was SIR, which was held in Boston, MA. we would first like to acknowledge that Dr. Hector Ferral, was recognized as a Fellow of SIR for all his outstanding work in the field of Interventional Radiology.
Our Jr. Chief Rebecca Chason, had a poster accepted at SIR. She did her research with Dr. Jewel Datri, from Tulane University in the Internal Medicine Department along with Dr. Fairchild and Dr. Ferral.
"Utilization of Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy in Persons Who Inject Drugs: A Meta-Analysis".
Dr. Ferral and Dr. Fairchild were both quite busy at SIR this year. Dr. Ferral coordinated two sessions at SIR: "Expanding the Role of IR in Women's Health" and "Legal Issues for Protecting IR". Both Dr. Ferral and Dr. Fairchild gave talks during these sessions,they are listed below:

"Ablation M&M Practicing IR" - Dr. Fairchild
"How to create a service for portal hypertension for Latinx Patients" - Dr. Ferral
Evolution of an IR Lawsuit- Real life case examples" - Dr. Ferral
"Try to cross an Amplatzer plug... No way" -Dr. Ferral
Lastly, we like to recognize the LSU Surgery resident that had a poster accepted at SIR, Dr. Jeff Musgrave. He was partnered with UAB.
"Glue as an arterial embolic agent in interventional radiology: A retrospective single-center experience".
