Why did you choose a career in pathology? What do you appreciate about pathology?

I chose pathology because it allows me to investigate diseases at a cellular level and make critical diagnoses that directly impact patient care. I’ve seen how much an accurate diagnosis can influence treatment and how important pathologists are in guiding clinicians. I appreciate the analytical nature of the field and enjoy examining cells and tissues under a microscope to put together a diagnosis. It's incredibly rewarding to know that my analysis can help achieve better patient care.

What do you like most about the LSU pathology residency program? What are your favorite rotations?

One of the things I like most about our program is the faculty's passion for teaching. They are not only experts in their fields but are also deeply committed to mentoring residents. They take the time to explain complex cases, encourage critical thinking, and create an environment where learning is prioritized. Surgical pathology is my favorite rotation. Although it’s busy and challenging, it offers the most learning, and the invaluable experience I gain from it prepares me to become an outstanding pathologist in the future.

What would you like to pursue after you finish residency?

I will pursue a fellowship after completing my residency to further refine my expertise. Following that, I hope to work in an academic setting where I can engage in both clinical practice and research.
