Residency and Fellowship Programs

Baton Rouge Psychiatry Residency Program

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship

We are excited to start recruiting for our 5-year combined adult/child and adolescent psychiatry track this year! Applicants can apply to the general adult residency program and/or the 5-year combined track through ERAS.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Can I apply to both the regular 4-year adult program and the 5-year track?

Yes!

2.  Should I apply to both?

That is up to the individual. If you know you want to come here (or any particular program) and are interested in child, you should rank that program in the order you want it.  For example, you could rank our 5-year track first and then the general track if this is where you hope to go. If you feel that a 5-year track is what you want, you may decide to rank as many 5-year programs in the order you like them first, then general adult programs.

3. Should I apply to the 5-year child/adult track if I don't want to do child psych?

No. You can always change your mind later and apply for a child and adolescent fellowship in your PGY-3 year.

4. What is special about the 5-year track?

If accepted, you will know where you will be for the next 5 years and you will know that you have the fellowship you want. You will also have specialized training throughout the five years so that you get exposure to child and adolescent psychiatry early.
