Program Mission

Mission:

Our Neurology Residency Program provides the tools, guidance, and experience its graduates need to practice as knowledgeable, culturally competent, caring physicians, who can excel in evolving healthcare systems, engage in lifelong learning, and appreciate and evaluate medical research. We prepare our residents to prioritize patient safety, value interprofessional team work, and improve healthcare quality for all stakeholders.

Our Mission is accomplished through excellence in clinical practice and continuous improvement of patient care, education, research, and advocacy. Our patient population is unmatched in diversity and our residents are encouraged to further expand their exposure and learning through local, regional, and national conferences. The majority of our graduates choose fellowship training beyond residency and proceed to work in the community, many in the state of Louisiana.

Resident professional, educational, research, and health goals are achieved through our clinical curriculum, dedicated support for research and quality improvement, and wellness initiatives that proactively address physician burnout and work-life balance.
