Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics
Ochsner University Medical Center (OUMC) is now Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics
(OUHC), as management of the hospital transferred from the State of Louisiana to Lafayette
General Health (LGH) under a long-term agreement signed in May 2013. The name change
is symbolic, but does not infer a disruption in service.
OUHC is open and available to everyone in the community as a full-service hospital
and offers a variety of specialized clinics. OUHC has the resources to treat everything
from major emergencies to minor illnesses. OLGH hopes to make these services more
helpful, efficient and beneficial.
Charity care is offered by OUHC, allowing persons to receive medically necessary care
at no charge or at a reduced charge when they meet financial eligibility requirements.
OUHC is committed to providing the highest quality inpatient and outpatient care to
all patients, including uninsured and underinsured patients.
Ochsner Lafayette General Health has invested more than $1 million into Ochsner University
Hospital & Clinics for facility upgrades and new equipment including: a nuclear medicine
camera that allows for more cardiac testing, along with other nuclear medicine studies;
a C-arm for surgical imaging; a Stress EKG Unit to perform cardiology studies; a new
ultrasound unit; a new Auditory Brainstem Response testing system that allows for inner ear and brainstem studies without sedation and a complete electronic
medical record for the hospital and clinics.
