University Hospital & Clinics

University Hospital & Clinics (UHC) is a full-service, acute care hospital, licensed for 116 beds. They serve Acadiana's uninsured and under-insured population as well as those with private insurance. This rotation provides the residents with an excellent exposure to community and rural surgery. The LSU residents provide the surgical coverage for the hospital, which includes a wide range of general surgery and vascular cases.

Lafayette General Medical Center

Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) staffs a total of 461 beds, including 334 at its main campus, 93 at its Lafayette General Orthopaedic campus and 24 at the Behavioral Health Unit. It is the region's Level 2 trauma center and the largest full-service acute-care medical center in Acadiana.

LSU Surgery residents rotate on General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at LGMC and also cover acute care/trauma call.
