NSURG 418 - Neurosurgery Acting-Internship (LSU and Visiting Students)

Clinical Neurosurgery Elective - NSURG 418

Departmental acting internships allow LSUHSC medical students, as well as students from other medical schools, to have a four-week experience on the LSUHSC neurosurgical service. Participants are senior medical students who are interested in pursuing a career in neurosurgery. The sub-interns usually spend two weeks on each of the neurosurgery services at both University Medical Center and West Jefferson. During this time, they make rounds with the residents, accompany faculty and residents in the operating room, work-up patients for critique by the resident and attending staff, and prepare presentations for didactic conference (see link on left sidebar for more information).

Interested outside medical students must submit their application through Visiting Student Application Services (VSAS) to be eligible for the rotation. If you have any questions, please contact the Program Director, Dr. Gabriel Tender, MD or the Program Coordinator, Jennifer Bordelon at 504.568.6120 or jbord7@lsuhsc.edu.
