LSUHSC Family Medicine Residents are provided opportunities to work at a wide variety of Medical Care Facilities, which allows for exposure to varying patient populations and medical professionals to learn from. Our facility partners are as follows:
LSUHSC Family Practice Center The LSUHSC Family Practice Clinic is located in Suite 412 of the Medical Office Building on the Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner Campus. Our training clinic has 12 exam rooms, 11 of which are in active use for continuity patients, and one for use by the Family Practice clinical psychologist. In addition to the exam rooms, the clinic also consists of a nurses' station, triage room, small lab, and procedures room. A precepting room and resident lounge all connect direcly to the clinic area.

Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner is an acute-care, 170-bed hospital serving the suburban population of Kenner and the surrounding River Parishes. The medical center includes a full-service emergency department, oncology services, advanced orthopedic services, a surgery department, hyperbaric medicine and wound care, and a Level II Neonatal Care Nursery. |

Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center (Chabert) Originally dedicated in 1978 as the South Louisiana Medical Center, Chabert Medical Center is a member of the LSU Health Sciences Center - Health Care Service Division's public hospital system. Its mission is to provide acute general medical, surgical, psychiatric, inpatient and acute/chronic ambulatory medical care for medically indigent, uninsured, Medicaid and Medicare-eligible patients, as well as self-paying patients. In 2003, Chabert was awarded the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems (NAPH) Accountability and Quality Improvement Award. |
Children's Hospital
Children's Hospital is Louisiana's only full-service hospital exclusively for children, offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient care. A not-for-profit facility, it is governed by an independent board of trustees made up of community volunteers. The hospital has no stockholders and no dividends to pay. Revenue generated is used to operate the hospital and expand and advance services. |
St. Joseph's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center St. Joseph's offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs for conditions ranging from amputation to stroke (CVA), as well as a skilled-nursing unit providing a variety of services.
