Why LSU Baton Rouge? During my away rotation as a 4th year medical student at Our Lady of the Lake, I
was struck by the caliber of training reflected in each resident’s ability to lead
a room, make deliberate and timely decisions, and manage complex cases with confidence
while faculty supported them each step of the way. The camaraderie within the department
and the mutual respect among residents and faculty created an atmosphere that was
both motivating and reassuring, the exact kind of culture I was looking to find!
What do you do on your days off? I like to binge watch any reality TV show on the couch, go to brunch with friends,
or plan a couples game night and invite everyone over!
Pets/Family? I am getting married in October of 2026! We have one dog, Gia Marie, who is a a Maltese
Yorkie mix.

Why LSU Baton Rouge? The interview and second-look sold me. It was easy to see that this program has a
great family-like culture and provides excellent training. I am looking forward to
making lifelong friendships here and experiencing SEC gamedays.
What do you do on your days off? I enjoy doing something active outdoors, trying new restaurants, and hanging out
with friends.

Why LSU Baton Rouge? There is too much to talk about here. This program is truly a hidden gem (at least
for now). The training was the first thing that peaked my interest. Highly EM run
with high volume, diverse patient populations, level one trauma center with many ongoing
studies and therefore the best blend of nitty gritty EM with academia thrown in the
mix. Then I met the people. Everyone in this system was kind, supportive and, importantly
to me, fun to be around. If you're not from here Baton Rouge is a great mix of a city
for those who enjoy the outdoors and love a good bar/restaurant. I knew after visiting
that this is where I wanted to spend my 3 years!
What do you do on your days off? Bars/restaurants, golf, pickleball, volleyball, fish, anything out of the house.
What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine?
EM interests: All of it, especially locums and crit care.
5 year plan: Finish residency and travel the world!

Why LSU Baton Rouge? After my interview, I had a gut feeling that this was where I belonged. You'll learn
from exceptional physicians, see an incredible breadth of pathology, and enjoy living
in one of the most vibrant areas of the country. Patients from all walks of life come
through our doors, providing clinical exposure that is second to none. I also heard
the food was good, and I can confirm that's absolutely true.
What do you do on your days off? Catching up on sleep, trying out new recipes, getting outside whenever possible,
or calling family and friends
What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? Probably flying planes.

Pets/Family? A loving family of six spread across the United States. I'm also thinking about adopting
a cat.

Why LSU Baton Rouge? Plain and simple. This place has everything an EM resident could dream of. EM runs
everything. We have control and oversight of everything that will help us become exceptional
physicians. Volume, acuity, procedures, and trauma are all things we don't have to
worry about in Baton Rouge. The opportunities are endless and we have the most incredible
staff that anyone could ask for!.
What do you do on your days off? Hunt/fish, guitar, crossfit, pickleball, BBQ, bake bread
What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? I would own a catering company.
EM interests: Rural emergency medicine, wilderness medicine, sports medicine, ultrasound
5 year plan: Work in a rural emergency department and travel!
Pets/Family? My amazing girlfriend Avery, her adorable Australian Shepard named Magnolia, and
my lab named Ace

Claire Kenneally, MD

Why LSU Baton Rouge? During my away rotation here I was so impressed not only by the wide variety and
very high acuity of the pathology, but by how dedicated the attendings were to teaching
and protecting ED right to procedures - and there were a LOT of procedures! A Level
1 trauma center where ED helps run the show rather than deferring to surgery, and
a hospital that is incredibly well-resourced without having a million other residents
running around to share procedures and patients with was ideal. I loved the family
feel of the program, and how everyone seemed to care about each other not just as
colleagues but as friends.
What do you do on your days off? Anything to get outside and get some sunshine! Traveling as much as I can, finding
new hikes and beaches, or overwatering my struggling little plants. Also usually doing
some baking, or catching up on whatever show we're binging.
What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? Medically? I also loved surgery! It was a tight race when it came down to picking
a residency. But outside of medicine, I've had so many different jobs, from bartending,
to teaching cooking classes and being a professional cake decorator, all the way to
guiding wreck snorkeling tours in Australia!
EM interests: Sports Medicine, Pediatrics, Trauma
5-year plan: EM Residency --> SM fellowship --> Team Physician (hopefully! Knock on wood) Ideally,
I'd spend half my time working with the team and half in the ED
Pets/Family? I'm the oldest of three siblings, brought my boyfriend, Evan, out here with me, and I have a Chocolate Lab named Jameson (Jamie) back in California!

Why LSU Baton Rouge? Came for the high acuity, diverse patient population, and unopposed procedures, but
stayed for the amazing people that make up this program. The people here are wonderful
teachers and made me feel like family from my very first day. Geaux tigers forever!
What do you do on your days off? Making candles, pilates, hanging out with my friends and family, discovering all
the best local restaurants, cheering on the LSU tigers, binge watching cop shows
What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine? Bartending!

Why LSU Baton Rouge? I fell in love with the people here after my interview. After seeing how the attendings
and residents interacted, I knew this is where I should be! Not only are the people
here great, but the program has very high acuity and volume. It also does not have
many other residencies at the hospital, which means there is no competition for patients/procedures
within the ED.
What do you do on your days off? Hunt, fish, play pickleball/tennis, play video games/board games, play guitar, and
sing!

Why LSU Baton Rouge? When looking at residency programs, I knew I wanted a place that would push me to
be better and feel like a home away from home. In my short time rotating at LSU Baton
Rouge, I knew this would be the place for me! I learned so much from the residents,
attending, and staff, all while having an absolute blast. The training at this program
is incredible. From the very first day, the people here went above and beyond to get
to know me and make me feel welcome. The city of Baton Rouge is truly something special
and will always hold a piece of my heart!
What do you do on your days off? Read, antique shopping, crochet, needlepoint, walk the LSU lakes!

to complex patients is extensive, and the residents and faculty are knowledgable,
hardworking, and passionate. South Louisiana is my home, and I'm happy to train here
and serve the community that raised me!
What do you do on your days off? I enjoy watching movies, trying new recipes, playing board games, playing volleyball,
crafting, sewing, and, most importantly, spending time with my husband, daughter,
and dog!
