Welcome from the Program Director
Welcome to the LSUHSC Family Medicine Residency in Lake Charles! We are so glad you stopped by for a glimpse into who we are and what we do. We are here to train residents with excellence in comprehensive family medicine care—inpatient, outpatient, procedures, pediatrics, women’s health—so you can provide care to the entire family in both urban and rural Southwest Louisiana. We partner with our local community hospital, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, to provide you with an unopposed training experience.
Our faculty is noted by residents time and time again as one of our greatest assets. They all enjoy teaching and complement each other in their diverse medical interests. You will work with them on the inpatient medicine service which exposes you to patients from different backgrounds and a plethora of pathology. Not only will you work closely with core Family Medicine faculty, but you will work one-on- one with consultants in the hospital and community to get the most out of your training experience. We are dedicated to providing you with a residency culture of enthusiastic, life-long learning and excellence in a family atmosphere.
Lake Charles is a rapidly growing college community located 2 hours east of Houston and 2 hours west of Baton Rouge. It is a family friendly area known for great food and outdoor activities like fishing and water sports.
Family Medicine is about caring for patients from the womb to the tomb. We foster a culture of physician well-being and patient-centered care by recognizing that the human person is a biologic, psychologic, social, and spiritual creature. We hope you will consider becoming a part of our family where we help patients heal as we ourselves heal.
Sincerely,
Danette Null, MD, FAAFP, FNIDD
