Diversity and Inclusion

The LSU Medicine/Pediatrics residency program is strongly committed to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion. Due to our program's emphasis on community involvement and caring for the underserved, we strive to recruit and retain a diverse population of qualified students, residents and faculty who are passionate about teaching and managing a complex and resource-challenged patient population. As Med/Peds physicians, training in internal medicine and pediatrics and at our continuity clinic, our residents and faculty care and value diversity in our patient population consisting of persons of varying socio-economic, religious, cultural, racial, and ethnic and gender backgrounds for patients.

To further our commitment to diversity and inclusion, our residents and faculty participate in diversity committees, educational programs, training, seminars, special events and advocacy resources within our institution through LSUHSC's Office of Diversity and Community Engagement.

We are truly committed to increasing the diversity of our residents and our faculty for the years to come, to ensure the success of our trainees who come from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine, and educating all of our residents on the inequities that diverse patients continue to experience.
