Bio

Alan L. LeBato, MD, is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, La. He is a 1983 graduate of LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. He completed his residency at the W.O. Moss Regional Family Practice Residency, where he served as chief resident in his third year. Dr. LeBato has been active in the American Academy of Family Physicians and is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. LeBato worked in private practice for 14 years, and his practice in Sulphur, La., encompassed the full range of a family physician, including obstetrics, endoscopy, and other procedures. Dr. LeBato became program director in 1997 and continues to maintain private patients in the LSU Family Practice Center and teach procedural skills to residents.

He serves on the Board of Trustees for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, as well as on the Physician’s Advisory Board. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine, the Louisiana Academy of Family Medicine, and the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society. He serves on the education and legislative committees for the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians. He is also a member of the Academy of Family Medicine Residency Directors and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

Dr. LeBato is married with three children and enjoys tennis, jogging, hunting, and fishing.
