LSUHSC-Lafayette Geriatric Medicine Research and Scholarly Activity Requirements

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the Department of Internal Medicine require that all Internal Medicine Residents participate in research and scholarly activity projects.  

This requirement is intended to enhance the Resident's understanding of clinical practice and research methodology including; design, implementation, interpretation, and presentation of results.

IV.D.3.a) The program must provide an opportunity for each fellow to participate in research or other scholarly activities. ^(Detail)

Department of Family Medicine Requirements

• Abstract submission to the American Geriatric Society (AGS) Annual Scientific meeting.
• Geriatric related Quality Improvement (QI) Projects/Research Projects.
• Fellows must have a Faculty Mentor/Sponsor for all scholarly activity projects.
• 100% participation is required for Fellows.
